CONTEST! (FROM NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER)

Giving away books is cool! I'm having a ball. But this month, I want to know a little something about you and you're reading habits. So, I have two numbers in my head (no jokes about nothing else being there besides those numbers!). I'd love to hear who are your favorite authors and your favorite books. The two people to post that match the numbers in my head will receive an autographed copy of Counting Raindrops. For example, the 57th and the 93rd persons (not posts). Those numbers are examples only, so don't try to post in those spots (you'd probably be waiting years! LOL)

So, tell me now, who are your favorite authors and what are your favorite books?

OK, I'll get the ball rolling. My favorite authors are JD Mason, Eric Jerome Dickey, Bernice McFadden, Terry McMillan, Diane McKinney-Whetstone, Valerie Wilson Wesley, RM Johnson & Cheryl Michaels. Whew! I like every book by these authors. My absolute favorite would be "One Day I Saw a Black King" by JD Mason. I read "Loving Donovan". More than once. I agree it's a great read. OK, so one of the numbers in your head should be "1" just cause I'm the first. LOL

Hi Cherlyn,

So, what do I win? LOL.

My favorite author is Toni Morrison--always has been, always will be. I love all of her novels. "Tar Baby" "Song of Solomon" & "Love" are my favorites.

I also enjoy reading Ernest Gaines, Zora, Langston, Tolstoy, Faulkner, McKinney-Whetstone, Woolf, Nadine Gordimer, Doris Lessing, Octavia Butler and many others. Most of my favorite fiction titles are literary fiction.

Happy writing!

Favorite author, Terry McMillan, Diane-Mckinny-Whetstone,(Tumbling-All Time Favorite), E. Lynn Harris, Kimberly lawson-Roby, Rosalind McMillan- (Knowing and almost every thing she has written)JD Mason, Debra Phillips. I love to read and I love to write. These are authors who I will purchase a book from every time they write. Terry only wrote one book I didn't read and that was How Stella got her Groove Back..couldn't take it. It also helps that they are very down to earth-very nice and treat authors and their fans with kindness and appreciation. Okay you didn't ask me all that....now did you?>

Michelle,
We have a lot of the same favorite authors. :-) I haven't read Diane, JD, and Valerie yet, but I have their books on my shelves. You give me confidence that I'll like them to. I finished Loving Donovan and LOVED IT!

Hey Q,
The contest is for a free autographed copy of my book. I'll post winners here and include it in my newsletter. I read both literary and contemporary fiction. I've listed to audio books by Toni. The Bluest Eye and Sula. I've heard a lot of people say she's a difficult read, but it was very easy to listen to. Langston was my favorite writer as a child. You've named a few that I'm not familiar with, so I want to look them up. Thanks for the tips. I'm glad I did this question!

Hi Rose,
I've heard lots of good things about Tumbling. Debra Phillips is the only one that you mentioned that I haven't read. And cool for all the extras! :-)
